Three months ago, Henry VI was murdered. The new king, Edward—dangerously suggestible, self-destructively decadent, and irrevocably shattered by the recent civil war—is still trying to drink his way out of depression. And, in the shadows, his youngest brother Richard is counting down the minutes until the sun finally sets on the endless party.
Come meet Richard III: Shakespeare’s first great villain. He wants the crown. He knows exactly how many people are in his way. And he’s already looking forward to killing them all. Henry VI was just the warmup.
Atlas Shakespeare Company brings the Bard’s tale of murder and corruption back to life for a limited Off-Off-Broadway run.

FEBRUARY 17 – MARCH 1
WILD PROJECT, 195 EAST 3RD STREET, NYC
After their critically acclaimed and audience-beloved productions of the Henry VI trilogy, Atlas Shakespeare Company is back with the bloodsoaked finale to Shakespeare’s epic Wars of the Roses saga: Richard III, a portrait of a charismatic, self-congratulatorily sociopathic villain whose ascent to power comes at the cost of his family’s lives—and his own sanity. Set in a world where curses come true, ghosts stalk the night, and everything turns out to be a trap, Richard III is simultaneously a psychological thriller, a political melodrama…and a cautionary tale about being careful what you wish for.
Richard III will be performed in full classical dress and include live sword-fighting.
