Pulitzer Prize-Nominated Play Directed by Gera Sandler to Star Maria Atlas and Lev Grzhonko in Limited New York Run
Creative Atlas and New Wave Arts are proud to announce a stunning new interpretation of A.R. Gurney’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, Love Letters. Directed by Gera Sandler, this limited engagement will run from November 19–23, 2025, at the American Theatre of Actors’ (ATA) Sargent Theatre, located at 314 West 54th Street in New York City.
This unique production will be performed in Russian with English subtitles, bridging two distinct theatrical traditions—Russian emotional expressiveness and American dramatic restraint—to uncover fresh, profound layers of intimacy and human connection within Gurney’s beloved two-character drama.
A Cross-Cultural Look at a Timeless Connection
Love Letters chronicles the lifelong correspondence between two childhood friends, Melissa and Andy, whose relationship unfolds entirely through the letters they exchange. Their words—spanning decades of childhood, ambition, longing, heartbreak, and reconciliation—reveal a love that manages to endure despite the circumstances that keep them apart.
The production stars Maria Atlas as Melissa and Lev Grzhonko as Andy. Under the direction of Gera Sandler, this bilingual staging transforms the classic American text into an international dialogue on shared humanity.
